So beautifully encapsulating what a big year this has been! Love and light to you as you work through this next period of healing. 💜
I started a similar draft that documents what I have been doing since I haven’t posted my regular things on substack in so long. This is encouraging me to actually share/post it.
That's certainly a lot to navigate and carry in such a compact amount of time! Huzzah for focusing on living (rather than publicly writing) this season and for being deliberate and intentional as you take each step forward! And huzzah for having the opportunity to practice OCD recovery skills in big ways!! Best wishes on your surgery and recovery, and take the time and space you need to personally process all the change and newness before sharing the pieces you want to ❤️
P.S. I don't know the scope of what you need surgery for, but my sister had sinus surgery last year and has been very satisfied with the results, if that can be a word of encouragement for you at this time.
Coeur d'Alene! I grew up just south of Spokane, which is only about an hour from there, and my parents grew up near the Canadian border in Idaho, so North Idaho holds many memories for me. And summers there are gorgeous! I hope healing from the surgery goes well!

Thank you, Leslie! It felt good to hit publish :)
I would love to read about what you’ve been up to and how you’d frame your creative work in this season.
I have no idea what is capturing my attention. I find myself being able to only focus on day to day I can’t look too far ahead or it takes over.
So now I’m in the present and it’s been fun and busy and tiring.
I feel you on the all-consuming day-to-day! It’s nice to present, but it would also be nice to have a break 😅
Thank you for sharing this Aly! Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹 Very happy for you and your family!
Thank you, Merci!

Thank you for your well wishes and encouragement, Elizabeth! And that is helpful to hear that your sister found relief with her sinus surgery!
I can’t get enough of your new writing space! I need to know more about your acrylic organizer, though you know my kids would just be all over that.
(Also loved your “mellifluous” intro… I feel like I am on this hike with you. 💛💛)
Praying for you!
