“Prolific not apologetic”

Ooff I have chills, this is so powerful, a reclaiming of creativity. Aly thank you for your vulnerability and bravery in sharing this as a fellow artists 🫶🏽

Thank you for reading, Jessica. I loved that line as well. I’m going to have to fight for the unapologetic part (the prolific comes more naturally 😆).

And I have loved hearing your own stories of creating anyway and choosing small acts of hope in a tough season.

"prolific not apologetic" is a great way to move yourself towards freedom in writing! I loved hearing you read the mission statement and I loved also being able to read it. I love how empowering this mission statement is in acknowledging where you have been and where you are headed.

Thanks for your encouragement, Valerie! Yes, “prolific not apologetic” is a way to move forward with freedom to play with all my crazy and seemingly unconnected ideas. I hope you feel empowered to create in a way that honors your own disposition!

“Did you know the good loops too?”

This one line stopped me in my tracks.

Thank you for sharing your mission statement! Honestly, it was a gift for me to hear you read it aloud and then to be able to sit with the words.💛

Thank you for sharing, Kristina. It is startling to realize the good loops, too, if we let it. I’m so glad my words and voice could be an encouragement to you. I know you have been such a good encouragement to me in The Artist’s Way cohort 💛

Such a beautiful reminder for all of us that the magic is in the creation, not the reception, and certainly not in the perfection. It was such a joy to hear you reading this piece!

Thank you, Melissa! Ooh, I like that phrase—“the magic is in the creation, not the reception.” I’ll be tucking that one away. And I have to be honest, I often chase the reception (and there can be magic there), but I’m learning to surrender that part more and more.

Seriously stunning, Aly! I especially relate to the desire to make my words “just right” and I love the invitation to “just write.”

I’m saving this to come back to—I know it will bless future writing Laura, too.

Thank you, Laura. I know I will be coming back to this pep talk again and again the future, too. I even told my husband to tell me to watch my own video when I get discouraged 😂

Love all of these words, and especially loved hearing you read them out loud!
